ART 4180 MURAL PAINTING 

Course Description: This special topics course examines processes and practices in contemporary mural painting. Students will understand how murals have historically functioned and contributed to public arts; propose mural designs to a community client; and paint the approved mural design on-site. The language of visual art, including elements and principles of design and color theory as well as proper professional preparation of mural materials will be emphasized throughout the course.

This expansive offering that covers three major areas. Mural History, Mural as Business, and Mural Implementation. We will guide this class through the entire process of mural making and how to work with a real-life client. At the end we will have designed murals from scratch and painted one.
